Losing It!
My name is Desiree Dunning and I would like to introduce you to Losing It!. Losing It! is an autobiographical look at what happens when a professional food writer and foodie has weight loss surgery. In Losing It! I will discuss weight loss surgery; making lifestyle changes; using my foodie skills to make delicious recipes; navigating my career as a food writer/photographer; and how to eat out successfully.
I am a wife, mother, writer, photographer, social media aficionado, and foodie. I grew up in Houston and began cooking as a teenager. I grew up in a family where the smells, taste, and texture of food were the center of our universe. I learned to cook by watching my grandmothers, Mom, Dad, and a few friends. If you ask any member of my family who the best cook is, each will claim to be the best. We’re just a little competitive!
I attended Southwest Texas State University. I earned an MA in Speech Communication, a Post-Graduate Certification in Legal Studies, a BA in Mass Communication-Public Relations, a Certification in Mediation, and an AA in Journalism. I dedicated more than ten years of my career to marketing communications, campaign management, political communication, and diversified multimedia campaigns. I am a food writer and photographer for Good Eats Local, which can be found in various cities throughout Texas, California, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico.
